make way for the new...

Hey Blogland people, I think the time has come close this blog. I am moving on to bigger and better venues. Im currently making myself a website using wordpress and learning how to use wordpress as a platform at the same time, so its taken me a while. I will most likely resume blogging there. my web site is (of course) www.toravalon.com/wpress. soon my work will be moved to just www.toravalon.com. actually it will be moved over as soon as I figure out how to do it, with my brother's help. it will have rss feed that you can plug into your blog lists to monitor updates. I will still continue to read your active blogs!
currently I can be found writing frivolous blurbs and posting pics in facebook. also my contact info is up to date if you are so inclined to use it.
Kristina

**update** my web site is now loaded to www.toravalon.com

I cant think of a title, boring, I know...

ok, so I tend to not write so often because I either have to much to say or nothing at all. Well I have to much to say. Træna Festival, boat rides, which pictures to post.....
Been Practing guitar and I have the key of G down pretty good, even used a chart to transpose some songs into G. Still not strumming yet.
watched Religulous. seriously biased and full of crazy religous people.
the weather has been really nice the past few days...in the high 60's maybe even 70's. the top two stories of the building turn into an oven.
been really tired these past few days, mowing the lawns of doom dont help.
Our team to Træna festival was 4 girls and 4 guys, ages ranging from 14 to 40. We were in charge of the campsite booth and also the night food booth. the campsite booth hours were from 12 noon to 11pm and the night food booth was 1am to 5 am. yeah. I know! we swtiched around alot on the day shift but it was a great hang out place anyway. the night shift felt like a soup kitchen. it never gets dark so staying up late isnt so hard. I would say that 90% of the festival attendees were drunk 100% of the time. it was pretty sad. we had a couple of really bold evangelists on our team who didnt hesitate to strike up a deep conversation here and there.
we were fortunate to be able to stay in a small school with mattresses. it was good to get out of the elements. I was the only non norwegian speaker, so it was a bit tough for me. though I did get down imortant phrases like "150 per persjon" "har du 50 lapp?" "bare camping" "fiske suppe med brød" and a bunch of other words Im to tired to remember. Lots of people could speak english but they really didnt want to.

rant: I just started reading "Velvet Elvis" by Rob Bell (Mars Hill dude) like it so far. I went online to find more info on him. Wow, there's alot of controversy. People throwing out words like "heresy" "false prophet" "leading people astray". Seriously? he's just a guy with some insights to certain issues that are very real and and relevent to many people (ya, not all) I hate it when christians start bickering amoungst themselves about what they consider to be theologically sound. Humble discussion, yes. Stubborn arguing. no! you can find a healthy review here.
anyways theres lots more I would like to rant about but most of it is directed to a few onlines comments I read. I much prefer face to face ranting and discussion. writing is to slow and I get lost in my thoughts. anyhoot. Ive been sitting here to long. playing with a plastic rainbow slingky.

not quite Everest....

went on a hike yesturday. took many hours (mostly because we just took it easy and had some snack breaks here and there. the hardest part was coming down, when my knees started hurting really bad about half way down. had to use a stick for a crutch, but I made it! tomarrow I head for Træna Festival. I could actually see the island from the top of the mountain, but it was to faint for my camera to capture it. Last pic is me and Torunn, we did the school of illustration together in Hawaii. she came up for the art seminar last week.

where sheep dare to tread

Had way to much excersise today. it was nice and sunny so I went out for walk down the road about an hour and a half then right after dinner Gro took me to the top of one of the hills behind the base. the view was beautiful. We decided to continue on to the top of the next hill, considerably taller, and took a more precarious short cut...that's all I'll say about that, mothers are reading, you know. there were alot of sheep trails and it was hard to figure out which was the right one. Many of them end and little caves. I was really supprised to see how daring sheep are. anyways. the view from the next hill (I almost want to call them mountains, becuase they are so rocky and shrubbery) was even more spectacular. here are two pics at about 9pm; me of course and a veiw of little town of engavaagen. the hike was about 2 hours, we ended up going over the mountain to Gro's house where I had tea and cookies. some of the left over students set up a movie projector and were watching x-men, and no it wasnt the first film as I assumed from the announcement on the white board, it was the last one....still in theaters. ha ha. I guess that sort of thing is legal here. Anyhoot. Monday is when we start preparing for the next event, which is the family camp weekend. I will leave you with a tale of sleepless woe: the students had their graduation last night and the program didnt end till after midnight and I had drank some coffee. Needless to say I was still quite awake so I wasted precious hours surfing the interent till about 2am when i forced myself to bed. Noticing that it had stopped getting darker and was now getting lighter out. I might have slept an hour untill some one thought it pertinent to unload a trailer full of wood just outside my window (by hand) so, there was this nice crash of wood every few seconds. it stopped for a while and then started again. well, Im sure it was after 4 before they finally stopped and then I probably fell asleep around 5....ugh. luckily I didnt have to be up for anything. some people and their "work at any hour" ways. God Natt
